The Ellé valley

Logo Bretagne

From the Montagnes Noires in Central Brittany to the centre of the town of Quimperlé, the route taken by the Ellé is not a long quiet river... Chaos and rapids offer kayakers some great sporting outings! And if you don't want to get wet, the banks of the river are just as interesting...

#1 The Ellé river

The name of the river Ellé is thought to come from the word "Ellez", which means hell. Like its neighbour, the River Ellé rises in Central Brittany. Natural and wild, this river is very popular with anglers. Enthusiasts love it from the start of the season in March. For budding hikers, the banks of the Ellé are also great places to observe the flora and fauna.

#2 The Devil's Rocks

A name to thrill children (and even adults). Les Roches du Diable (The Devil's Rocks) takes you back to the legends that are so well told in Brittany. Coming to Les Roches du Diable in winter is like entering the lair of the beast. Situated between Guilligomarc'h, Locunolé and Querrien, this strange and wild place is accessible via a network of paths. Don't be fooled by the legend from which the site takes its name: the Roches du

On the contrary, the Diables are a paradise for hikers, fishermen and fans of outdoor sports!

#3 Canoeing and kayaking

In summer, people come to the banks of the Ellé for a family outing on the river in a canoe or kayak. In winter, there are official kayaking competitions where experienced paddlers battle the bubbling waters or simply admire the thundering spectacle of water rushing through the ancient rocks.

#4 The trail

From north to south and east to west, the Destination Quimperlé les rias has everything to enchant trail runners. The most daring of them meet up here every April for the famous - and oh so demanding - Bretagne Ultra Trail.

#5 River fishing

At times tranquil, at others impetuous, the Ellé attracts all types of river fishing enthusiasts to its banks. Fly fishing, spinning... all disciplines are welcome, as long as they respect the regulations and good practice, to preserve the natural environment. A fishing spot just the way we like them: wild, powerful and striking by nature.
